Jon Williams

Jon is one of the practice leads of Steer's Major Developments team and has 22 years of experience in transport and development planning, acting as a project director and project manager. He provides advice to both public and private sector clients, on all types of land uses, including residential, retail, employment development and sports and major events, co-ordinating single and or multi-disciplinary teams at all stages of the planning process. 

Jons's experience includes a comprehensive understanding of promoting and delivering large strategic mixed-use sites within constrained environments. This includes the identification of access strategies that enable the development potential of both greenfield and brownfield sites to be realised. His Decide and Provide approach limits the use of the private car off-site and puts pedestrian and cycle provision at the heart of the development whilst promoting, strengthening and enhancing public transport offerings and maximising the opportunity to influence mode shift through behaviour change initiatives.  This approach creates a better environment for new and existing residents and users of the network.

Jon is also experienced in identifying access and transport strategies, Transport Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, and traffic calming and management schemes. He also has experience as an expert witness at appeal as well as informal hearings and written reps and assisting with a number of major inquiries to deal with transport and highways matters through Examination in Public.
