For Steer, robust and insightful research is a prerequisite and continuous innovation is essential. It is these qualities that allow us to address the most complex challenges facing our cities, communities and infrastructure providers and to do so blending experience and fresh perspectives.
This is why we take research and innovation so seriously, actively investing in the development of new ideas, products and ways of working, and encouraging our staff to think creatively and imaginatively about their work.
One way for our staff to get involved in research and innovation is through our R&I Club, an informal meeting that regularly brings together staff of all grades, disciplines and countries to work collaboratively on ideas and problem-solving. We are encouragingly open and have only one rule; not to reject ideas before they have had a chance of being properly aired and considered.
Originally aimed at our graduate staff, the R&I Club soon became popular with a wider set of staff, and now we have mini-clubs regularly meeting across the UK, North America and Latin America, with a panel of staff, drawn from across the company, reviewing proposals to agree which should be taken forward.

To mark the 100th meeting of our R&I Club, we produced a booklet showcasing many R&I projects, large and small, that have been completed since the Club began.
