I am a Civil Engineer with a Master’s degree in transportation from the University of Bologna, my home city. I started my career working for TPS-PTV Vision in Italy where I developed strong modelling skills working on transport plans for cities, provinces and regions in Italy.
After four years I felt like I needed new challenges and experiences and wanted to see more of the world. With its work on global projects, I felt that Steer offered all of these things and I joined the team in Bologna in 2008.
After a couple of years at Steer, I moved to London for a secondment. It was only supposed to be for one year but it ended up being two! I really loved London and it was a great experience for me, both workwise and personally. In these two years I worked with the international infrastructure team on exciting and challenging global projects. I learned a lot from everyone I worked with and also made some very good friends. I also had the opportunity to work in our Mexico City office for two months while working on a project there.
These past ten years at Steer have been very exciting. Collaborating with so many different teams — London, Leeds, Boston, New York, Mexico, Colombia and Chile (to name a few) — makes me feel part of one company. One of my main goals now, as a project manager, is to increase the support and collaboration between offices and to encourage other Italian staff to do the same.
