Lessons learnt from Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) projects

Steer has undertaken a review of six behaviour change projects funded by the LSTF.

By Steer

Steer Davies Gleave is committed to a Plan-Do-Review approach to projects and has undertaken a review of six behaviour change projects funded by the LSTF. These projects all included substantial Personalised Travel Planning (PTP or PJP) elements, and by comparing outcomes between them some valuable lessons were identified. In particular, factors that contribute to successful behaviour change outcomes, such as reduced car use and increased use of sustainable and active travel modes.

More information is available in our publication “Lessons learnt from LSTF projects” which shares the top seven influential factors, including availability of good sustainable and active travel options, responsive population prepared to engage with the programme, effective complementary measures including good information and branding, a well trained and motivated project team. The report also shares some behavioural insights, which can inform policies and measures aimed at influencing behaviour, and a feature on 'What Next for PTP'.
