Measuring progress on our DEIA goals

To assess our EDI performance, we align with the UK Equality Act 2010 framework, which addresses nine protected characteristics – age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, sexual orientation, pregnancy & maternity, race, religion & belief and gender. 

In addition, we benchmark our progress across all our geographies against:

  • the private sector (specifically professional services);
  • our industry peers, and 
  • the communities we serve. 

Our latest DEIA Report reflects our commitment to these goals and includes key insights such as our Gender Pay Gap analysis, ensuring we continue to foster equality of opportunity and reward for all employees.

Awards & memberships 

We actively support initiatives that promote diversity and inclusivity across the transportation industry and beyond:

  • Women in Transport: We encourage employees to join the global Women in Transportation Society International and actively participate in the UK’s Women in Transport group. We are proud to sponsor the group’s mentoring programme, with some of our team members serving as mentors.
  • The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion (ENEI):
    • Winner: Innovative Ways of Working award
    • Highly Commended: Agile Working in the UK
    • Achieved Gold Award status in the ENEI Talent Inclusion & Diversity Evaluation benchmarking.
  • Diversity in Transport pledge: As a supporter of the UK Mayor of London’s Diversity in Transport pledge, we aim to remove barriers for young people from minority ethnic groups pursuing sustainable careers. 
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Charter: We are signatories of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Charter launched by The Railway Industry Association and Women in Rail, promoting positive change in the UK railway sector.
