District of Columbia Department of Transportation / Foursquare ITP

Helping people explore the various ways to travel to and around D.C.

Steer is working in conjunction with Foursquare ITP and Clark Concepts, to support and evaluate the outreach, strategy, and monitoring practices of the goDCgo TDM Program in Washington D.C.

The project team is taking forward engagement with employers, residential developments, travel and tourism sites, and general commuters to promote the wide range of transportation benefits available in the District.

How we helped

Steer is delivering all employer outreach and marketing through various channels, and developing partnerships across the region as goDCgo works closely with other TDM programs throughout Maryland and Virginia. Results reporting is a key focus of the team to capture behavior change and inform marketing outreach in the future.

We are also sharing lessons learned from similar outreach programs in the U.S. and U.K. to support the TDM Program and travel behavior change throughout the Washington D.C. area.

Successes and outcomes

The team is utilizing a combination of marketing and outreach tactics to help people explore the various ways of traveling to and around D.C. These include:

  • Brochures
  • DC bike maps
  • Capital Bikeshare Corporate Program Marketing
  • Transit vouchers
  • Website communications
  • Electronic newsletters
  • Face-to-face meetings
  • Tabling at community events
