Major Sports Events Mobility Partner to the Greater London Authority (GLA)

Steer are proud to have been chosen as the Greater London Authority (GLA)’s Major Sports Events Mobility Partner for the next three years. This collaboration will see us act as mobility specialists to the GLA, providing expert guidance to London as a Host City of major sports events.

The purpose of this partnership is to:

  • Increase London’s attractiveness as a Host City of major events at bid stage.
  • Successfully deliver major events in London.
  • Fulfil the Mayor’s aims contained within ‘London: Home of World Class Sport’.

The scope of work includes providing the GLA with specialised mobility and transport advice as needed over the next three years at key London venues. A key focus for the first year will be analysing late-night movements at venues around London and seeking enhancements to the fan experience at late-night events.

The successful bid was led by Ed Robinson and Jen Alexander, who will now work closely over the next three years to deliver the objectives set out by the Greater London Authority. Steer scored a near perfect score on quality for this bid, reflecting the expertise gained from managing mobility for high profile events over the years including the UEFA Champions League Final 2024 and 2017, Operation London Bridge, Rugby World Cups 2019 and 2015, UEFA Nations League 2023, Women’s EURO 2022 and Men’s EURO 2020 Championships.

Steer have also recently been appointed mobility partner for the City of Vancouver delivering the FIFA World Cup 26. This dual success underscores the remarkable growth of our Sports and Major Events team, both within the UK and across North America.

Our role as Mobility Specialist to the Greater London Authority represents a great win for the Sports and Major Events team and we look forward to working with the GLA over the next 3 years.

“Ultimately, the first and last impression fans have of a city is through its transportation system. This work represents a great opportunity for the GLA to enhance this experience for sports enthusiasts, tourists, and the wider London community. We are excited to be a part of this project as the chosen mobility partner,” says Project Manager Jen Alexander.

“I’m really proud of the relationship we have built with the GLA, with key London venues and with London’s transport operators. I’m looking forward to working with the team and familiar faces at a number of venues to shift London to a more proactive Host City strategy, saving stress in delivery of Major Events down the line,” says Project Director, Ed Robinson.
