Simon Statham joins Steer to lead Midland’s expansion

We are delighted to share news of a new senior hire, Simon Statham, who joins Steer as a Director.

Simon will help to strengthen and broaden Steer’s Policy and Strategy capability. He will also be the founding member of our new office, which will be based in Birmingham and allows Steer to continue our rapid growth as well as develop our commitment to work more closely with clients in the Midlands.

Simon joins Steer from Midlands Connect (the sub-national transport body for the Midlands), where, as the Chief Technical Officer, he spent the last seven years building their now highly regarded technical function.

Simon also oversaw two iterations of their regional transport strategy and developed work across many different programmes, including strategic infrastructure priorities, smart ticketing, rural mobility, alternative fuels, and decarbonising transport.

Simon brings us over 20 years of experience working across an extremely wide spectrum of technical disciplines and across consultancy, local, and national government in the UK and overseas.
