Steer has developed the first business cases for Mobility Hubs in the UK, working for SEStran and Fife Council. We developed business cases for three Mobility Hubs in St Andrews, Leuchars and at a planned rail station in Leven, which could form the basis for a funding submission.
As part of this work, we developed an economical appraisal, assessing costs and estimating expected benefits. The appraisal suggests that the economic performance of the Mobility Hubs and their cost-benefit ratio varies between 1.3 and 5.3 depending on the location, which supports the case for investment based on its value for money performance.
CoMoUK defines a Mobility Hub as a recognisable place with an offer of different and connected transport modes supplemented with enhanced facilities and information features to both attract and benefit the traveller.
